Weaving Techniques

HAND-TUFTED

An artist tufts yarn into fabric that has a design drawn on it using a tufting gun. To produce the final design of the rug, the craftsman follows the outline to determine which colours belong where.

HANDLOOM

This method of weaving is quite comparable to handloom textile weaving. The yarn for the rug is threaded into the spaces between the interlocking warp and weft, which are substantially thicker to create a thick fabric.

FLAT-WEAVE

A flatweave is composed completely of warp and weft threads that interlock; the colours are based on the thread, and the design is based on the various interlocking patterns.
